Charles Dickens Classic From Homeschool Radio Shows!

I don't know about your children, but mine absolutely LOVE listening to old time radio broadcasts and audiobooks. My 12, 10, & 8 year old boys listen to something every single night before bed. My 16 & 14 year old sons used to do the same thing, but it's not as frequent as when they were younger.

They have been through every episode of Sherlock Holmes, The Great Gildersleeve, The Whistler, Father Knows Best, and Family Doctor ever recorded. I can't even begin to list the 100's of audiobooks they've listened to, from the unabridged versions of Alice in Wonderland and Pilgrim's Progress, to The Iliad and Treasure Island. It's such a great way to enjoy these classics. HomeschoolRadioShows got us hooked many years ago!

I was so excited to learn that HomeschoolRadioShows just posted a great hour long audio dramatization of Charles Dickens' GREAT EXPECTATIONS at their site this morning! This is a terrific "living book for the ears", especially for ages 10 & up...

Enjoy!

  6. Our girls love audio books too - they listen in the car and at home. Their favourites at the moment are some Enid Blyton Famous Five stories they have. They're still a little young for Great Expectations (they're 5 and 7) but I might check out the link to see what else is there!
    Thanks for sharing!
